Worden Farm Field Notes: January 9, 2018

Last week, we covered the cold-sensitive crops in anticipation of the freeze. Some crops were lost, but overall, most crops made it through. Our cropping plan is designed robustly, to ensure that we can continue harvesting throughout the winter months, freeze or no freeze.

The sold-out Sunday Brunch was fun and the weather was perfect. We enjoyed a delicious assortment of courses created by Chefs Joey Egan and Mallory Lasser, followed by a walking tour of the fields with Farmer Chris. Mark your calendar and get tickets now for the next Sunday Brunch, March 25.

The talented Peace River Painters visited the farm on Monday. Our farm landscapes are ever-changing, as one crop follows the next. Each year, when they visit, we are honored and impressed to watch these artists set their attention and efforts on the farm. They elevate and preserve our work through their original plein air paintings in oils, acrylics, and watercolors.
